Re: Stereo System Upgrade - JL or Wetsounds
BBP, Definitely would go with Wetsounds Rev 10 or Rev 8, over the Icon tower speakers. Good advise on the Marine grade wires and cables also. I need to get in the boat and measure and see if I got room for Rev 10's or Rev 8's, and trying to decide if I want 4 tower speakers or 2. My Sampson Razor tower is pretty high up and big diameter pipe. I really like the Sampson Razer tower. I know its pre-wired, but I'm sure I will have to run new and better wire inside it anyway. What is the best discount you have seen on Wetsounds and JL Audio equipment? Wetsounds was 20 percent off everything on Black Friday, and I have not seen any JL Audio on sale.

Yes I ran new speaker wire in my tower. It was pretty easy. I didn't replace my disconnect connectors though. I have no idea what discounts are going on. I haven't watch them since I bought mine. I bought my rev8s off ebay with rotational clamps for $600.00 couldn't turn that down.

BBP, did the Revo 6 fit okay in the bow? Did you have to add spacers?

Yes I had to add a spacer. You would never know or add a led trim ring.Rallbalt wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:28 pm BBP, did the Revo 6 fit okay in the bow? Did you have to add spacers?

BBP if you were to do it all over, would you go with the rev 10s or stay with the 8s? I've found a set of 8s with swivel and skins for $850 I'm not looking to project all the way across the lake just while chilling in the water off the back of the boat and be able to hear it while running with the capts call on. Thanks for your infoBig Block Power wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2020 3:54 pm Yes I ran new speaker wire in my tower. It was pretty easy. I didn't replace my disconnect connectors though. Honestly I'm very happy with my 8s. 10s will carry more bass though. Head room is also a issue once you get to 10 on mine plus they are heavy and I raise and lower my tower by hand and that would put me over the edge.Cruiser64 wrote: Mon Dec 14, 2020 12:00 amBBP if you were to do it all over, would you go with the rev 10s or stay with the 8s? I love they way mine mix with the sound in the boat. If you want to hear them while wakeboarding it has to be cranked. It's very loud inside of the boat. My ears hurt.

I install both regularly. Go with the Rev8s unless you are looking for king of the cove status. You will likely not hear much of the lower end when Captains call is on but the HLCD in the revs will split through anything on the high end frequencies.Cruiser64 wrote: Mon Dec 14, 2020 12:00 amBBP if you were to do it all over, would you go with the rev 10s or stay with the 8s? Rev 10"s rock with their horn tweeters for blasting music outside the boat. After dropping nephews off at the beach they recorded the projection from our 263 tower speakers...

Re: Stereo System Upgrade - JL or Wetsounds
I didn't get the deal on the 8s and buying new is only a hundred bucks more so I'll prob go with the 10s. A little worried about head room though.AsLan7 wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 7:33 am.distinguishedmotors wrote: Tue Jan 05, 2021 6:46 pmI install both regularly. Yes definite check headroom. I actually have American flag streamers hanging from them to help with that so you don’t forget they are there. It’s easy to do if you want to look over the side of the boat otherwise they are not to obtrusive.
