My brother has the 5.3 in a 2010 GMC truck and it won’t get out of its own way. When I ride with him I always ask if he wants me to run ahead and “tell them we are in the way”.
That's kinda interesting since a 2010 5.3L has more HP and torque than the last time in 1998 that Chevy used the 5.7 engine. The 2020 version of the 5.3 is 15% better than the 2010.

That being said, the 3.5 Ford Ecoboost blows away all the other 1/2T truck engines.
He probably has 308 gears in it beings its a GMC. I know Tahoe's feel very lazy with them.

At sea level I would not be afraid to line my 6.2 Chevy up with any other "stock for stock" half ton.

I'm fairly certain you are right. It definitely isn't a towing gear. The heaviest thing he ever tows is a Chapparall 196 that probably weighs at most 3K lbs on the trailer, so it does what he needs it to. He's reluctant to trade it too because the dealership he bought it from gave him a lifetime powertrain warranty 5-6 years ago.

I have to agree. The Raptor-spec EcoBoost in our Navigator is insane. What a great engine.

6.2l Chevy 460 lb-ft torque at 4100 RPM
3.5L Ecoboost 470- lb-ft at 3500 RPM -- best of all, keeps that spec at all elevations. Since I tow a lot at 7,000 feet, great engine.

With the ECUs torque managements nannies neither engine sees rated torque or HP from a standing start. I still stand by my pervious statement

The company I work for manufactures a form of construction equipment. When we bid a machine for elevation we have to put 25% higher HP diesel engines in them. Yes turbo'd engines maintain their torque rise longer than NA, but the air is still thinner and when the turbos are still the same size they cant stuff the same amount of air into the cylinders.

We are truly living in a modern "muscle" era for all vehicles. And when I had to run down to Omaha last week for an appliance, get 25mpg round trip, I almost pinch myself to make sure Im not dreaming. Simply amazing.

So, we traded off my Wife’s 2015 GMC Denali with the current Gen 6.2 420/460 for a new Expedition Platinum 3.5L 400/480.
I’ve got to tell you that the EB is a monster. Both engines are great, but there is no question that the EB feels much stronger.
The only downside is the pathetic V-6 sound..
