Thanks bruceb58 definitely will take that into consideration...

BB --- 45K is out of my strike zone. I only use the boat for a total of 2 months out of the year, 3 tops and mainly on weekends. And I agree with you 20K tops unless there is a cobalt factory swim platform (old style) then maybe 22-23k i will splurge.

Update - the boat wont shift into Forward or Reverse. I checked in with the broker today and they relayed that the mechanics checked it out and said that the Control Box needs to be replaced. Is this common?

Not really. Easy to check though. Disconnect the cable coming from the control box at the top of the engine. At that point, you can shift the drive manually from there if the lower shift cable isn't damaged or worse, damage to the drive. You should ask what made the mechanics determine this.

It's early this season. Plenty of boats will hit the market. Stiff cables are common. I'm have to do mine one of these years but nothing I have to do like now. But not shifting that's a have to do now. That whole drive deal just had me running. That's just me. Ok I moved on.

I agree. Shows neglect by owner.

throttle cable was completely frozen (as in not by the cold). They replaced the throttle from a 3000 model (which was original to the boat) to the 4000 model (throttle and control box) and replaced the cables running from throttle to the throttle control box in the engine compartment. We fired up the boat on Saturday and it performed like a champ (Forward and Reverse).

So, LakeCadillac, where are you in your Cobalt ownership journey? Have you pulled the trigger yet?

That outdrive looks pretty corroded. And although it may operate fine now you may have catastrophic failure in the near future. It wouldnt prevent me from buying the boat, but I would immediately start looking for a new set of cases to swap all the internals into.
