Audio Upgrades (2) for 2018

Post by Soonerfan »

I apologize if I should have posted this in the existing thread but I didn't want it to get overlooked as it has some specific detailed options regarding the new 2018 Audio Upgrades. If it needs to be deleted or moved please feel free to do so.

I haven't heard Roswell speakers, but they seem to be well-made. Anybody heard them? I would assume they are an upgrade to the JL Audio stuff or Cobalt wouldn't place them in tiers the way they did...

Obviously there is always room for improvement, but in a relatively small boat area, I'm not sure how you can really improve on the Premium package. Maybe add a few more speakers. The Plat does add a sub.
In my experience, better sound comes from more power, and not necessarily speaker changes.

Have you guys see this option for 2018? I really like it as it allows for the fixed sunshade look while allowing folding of the arch. My understanding is that the sunshade will rotate, remain level with the boat as the arch is folded electrically I looked at Sea Ray before ordering my Cobalt and it had this option and was pretty neat. Sea Ray dealer said that if you got caught in a rainstorm you could lower the arch down to the windshield helping cover the passengers while heading back to the dock.

I really like the looks of that arch and binimi, but how much is it in the way of getting in and out of the boat and docking?

Noooo. That's just a fancy tarp YT.

Seriously though. I feel like a hobo now next time I put up my Bimini.

I'm wondering if they changed the basic frame?
The (folded) arch was still almost 2' taller than the windshield on the 17'. I would have needed a 14' tall building to fit it on my trailer.

I'm still surprised anyone orders the non folding stainless style arch. Looks great, but It's like putting up view blocking walls on the boat. I like the new folding arch much better.
The sun coverage with our Bimini is huge. Definitely looks like a tent when open. Double edged sword there for my family. I like a cover, everybody else loves the sun..

The basic frame looks to be similar to the current folding arch which is not quite as meaty looking as the non folding to me. My order goes into production on 10/2 so I have until next Friday to make changes. One change I was making was going to the folding arch and the new sunshade is just icing on the cake for me and makes the decision that much easier.

They have a picture on their facebook page that shows the arch lowered. In the picture it looks like it is still at least a foot above the windshield but I don't know if it is completely folded or not. I to like the cover whereas my entire family likes the sun!

Like I said in my post above, consider the view obstructions. That was the first thing I thought when starting my ordering process while still thinking about adding one. I might be the only person who thinks like that. 🙃
The solid arch could be a head banger in rough water, and a definite view killer from the rear seats. I certainly didn't want to be looking around that 2' flat wall thing for the long term.

The folder would be my choice of the two.. looks modern and you can see through it.
