Prop riding low on trailer

Post by russc3 »

I have my prop trimmed all the way up, but I barely have 4 inches clearance!? Clearly the boat rides low on the trailer, but I’m so scared I’m gonna scrape it when trailering. Anyone have an affordable solution? Anyone in a similar boat (see what I did there?)! Thanks in advance!

.
When trimmed all the way up how much clearance is there between the top of the outdrive and the swim platform?

If you don’t have torsion axels you could get a drop hitch and lower the tounge

Looks like your tires have VERY little clearance between them and the fenders. Makes me think the torsion axles are not set up correctly assumign you have torsion axles.

Also, It is very possible a shim block was installed on your rams to keep it from hitting your swim step. Yours mayjust not go up as high as someone without that type swim step.

When I get to my boat, or someone else can, measure the fully extended length of the RAM.

Sorry I missed your second picture. After seeing it, your trailer set up is too low.

That's scary! Looks like the trailer bunks are set too low

Looks to me like the rams are limited some how to protect the swim deck.

I don't think it's the bunks. Look at how much clearance there is between the hull and the fender tops.

Take a look at the car hitch to trailer. Too high

Maybe SkyJacker makes a lift kit for your trailer?

Thank you all! Working on getting a lower drop hitch and see how that works for me. In other news, today I trailered it for the first time this season, and the winch strap broke! The marina just replaced it!? Must have bought one that’s not built for a boat my size. So frustrating.

Yay! Boat life!

Be careful about dropping the front lower. Your front trailer cross members will scrape steeper boat ramps during the initial approach.

Winch straps are wear items - they take a beating in the sun. I keep a spare in the trailer box.
