Mystery Part, What is this?

I just love my new 2001 262. It's in amazingly good shape and runs well. I explored the engine compartment recently and discovered a loose part just laying on the starboard side.

It's about 3ft long, 6inch wide and half inch thick made of heavy plastic. It does not match any material in the engine compartment, but looks like the same material as the cutting board in the aft storage locker.

It has two screw holes in it that don't go all the way through. It looks like the screws pulled out. I found one in the engine compartment with the same plastic still on the threads.

The prior owner has no idea.

Any thoughts?

Pics??? Is it bigger than a bread box?

Cobalt uses Liners along stringers for stepping points in bilges as not to contact harness wiring .. tubing.. plumbing.

Get a pic and the 262-263 brothers will get you the location.

Cobalt262 welcome to the infirmary! Be sure to go on the new members thread and introduce yourself. Give us some pictures of your boat, and one of your mystery part, or quite frankly they don't exist!

Does your part look like it may have been the aft ankle biter door? My 262 has this useless little door that's about that size that closes off the transom. The only thing it might be good for is to hold a little dog in. Is it slick acrylic or dull white? Dull white might mean its a divider in the engine bay maybe?

That piece that you mentioned is bolted to the floor next to the engine compartment to keep items from sliding into the engine.

Be careful, as I have seen folks break the "L" aluminum brackets that support it by stepping onto it or bending it unintentionally.
