1990 Vertical Ski Tow - help

Hey all, new to the board. Just bought a 1990 252 and the ski tow doesn’t screw into the metal clasp. It’s as if the metal area that it should screw into is too large for the bolt and it looks like there used to be threading there that is now chewed up.

Any advice, or recommended fixes or places where I might find old parts??

You may be able to find that female threaded part on Great Lakes Skipper or eBay.
...or a 252 parts boat.

Yeah, I’ve looked all over eBay. Need to call Great Lakes place as I found it a bit difficult to search their site for something so small.

I also think I may just replace the whole thing by installing a pop up tow hook. Pictures of the replacement ideas coming and if the boat.

Images of potential replacement. Would just bore out larger hole and have all new piece and new pop up tow.

Just an idea, but you could pull that female piece out, take it to any machine shop and they can fill and retap it to your threads and make it good as new. I've had to do that on a few things.

Got the piece pictured above installed yesterday. Was tricky drilling the hole and getting underneath to tighten the backing plate but we got it done.
