Nervous! Just bought my first Cobalt...1995 200
Hey all! I'm very very new to this boating scene and a bit nervous about the ole' B.O.A.T. acronyms that are floating out there! Haha! Purchased a 95 200 with 550 hours on it. Gel coat is in pristine shape. Engine just had a fresh rebuild with a remanned longblock. The shop is honoring a 18 month warranty on workmanship. The boat is clean, clean, clean and the previous owner has even reached out to me and asked me to keep in touch over this summer if I have any issues at all. I won't be doing that as I believe that when you buy something, it's yours. Do your due diligence before buying it and then leave the previous owner alone. Just the way I think. Not going to push that belief system on anyone else. So back to the boat. Engine should be great, outdrive is clean, bellows good, everything works. I guess I'm reaching out to the Cobalt universe to ask what are some of the typical problems you see with this particular model of boat. I'm beyond excited to get it out on the water a LOT this summer and make some wonderful memories with my wife, son, and his friends. Thanks in advance for your responses!

It looks very nice. Is this your first boat? For what it's worth I think it shows that you bought from a thoughtful owner (in that he offered you to stay in touch) and he probably took good care of the boat. I wouldn't bother a previous owner either but since he offered and you are both part of the boating "community" you might find he has useful information to help you enjoy your new boat more. Enjoy!

Re: Nervous! Just bought my first Cobalt...1995 200
The question comes up a lot; “what known issues are there with this particular model?”
The reality is, there are very very very few specific models that are “known to have an issue”.
Rather, there are few “model specific issues”.
On a Cobalt, you’re not going to have to worry so much of model specific issues, and more general issues. Powertrain, gel coat, etc. and all of these things are more related to the care of the boat throughout its life.
Has the engine and drive been maintained? Has the gel coat been properly cared for?
Congrats on your purchase! You won’t be disappointed!

If you knew about the bellows, you're already ahead of anything I knew when we purchased our first boat.
You should get some good info here. Try surfing through some of the existing threads.

I need to get the TV antenna installed so I can watch football next fall.RyanWebb0412 wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:02 am Thanks, people! That Direct TV antenna really does look like it's connected to the tower, doesn't it?!! Haha! We're gonna get her out on the water this Sunday! I. Can't. Wait!
Greers Ferry Lake is crowded on weekends most of the summer.
When high school starts back, and football practice, lake really slows down making it one of the best times of the year for boating.
Sure would be nice to be watching college on Saturday and NFL on Sunday in September and October.
By the way, Dolphins have already won this years draft, considering first round picks, and the future picks they picked up.
No comments, please. New member doesn't need his first post hi-jacked! LOL.

I was disappointed. I was hoping Bengals would take OT or Falcons trade with someone who wanted QB. I wanted Pitts or Chase badly.Big Block Power wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:33 pmWell just for the record you are the one that started the derail.Krob1114 wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:54 amI need to get the TV antenna installed so I can watch football next fall.RyanWebb0412 wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:02 am Thanks, people! Waddle was not bad though. I also thought Dolphins would take the top rated safety from TCU, but took smaller safety from Oregon.
Didn't like Saints taking "DE" in first round when there were top rated "Edge" players available. Hopefully they know more about football than I do.
Maybe Saints will get Rodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Rodgers retires and goes to jeopardy! Glad he's a team player. He's no better than Farve! Terry Bradshaw did a good interview about him and slammed him. The steelers brought in 3 QB when he was there. The guy has 2 years left on his contract. Shut up ms play. You made the deal.Krob1114 wrote: Thu May 06, 2021 4:09 amI was disappointed. This is the diff between him and the goat. The goat will take a play cut to surround himself with players. Rodgers is all about me. I hope he's done this year and pays his 44 million back. What a joke! Go Badgers!
