About time I intro myself...

Post by lespaulrob »

Hi all. First off, thanks to everyone here that has helped me out on my Cobalt journey. I'm so happy to be here and even happier with my new boat. My name is Rob and I live just outside of Nashville, TN. My boat, a Cobalt R6 Surf is docked on Tims Ford Lake, which if you aren't familiar with the area, it goes into Lynchburg where they're known to make a little Tennessee whiskey down in those parts. :)

Honestly, we started our boating journey about 2 years ago. My wife (Leigh) and I have two boys who are 17 and 14. We started off with a 2018 Chaparral H20 21' Fish & Ski and it was a really nice boat and I got do develop some really basic skills as never having been on the water before other than the random pontoon here and there. Last year, we decided to make the jump into the Cobalt world as we have seen several at the lake and wanted to get something of really great quality that would last for years if we wanted to keep it but also maintain somewhat of a decent resell value in case we needed to sell it for whatever reason. Cobalt was the only answer for us and when I saw the new R6/8's, I was hooked. I almost immediately reserved a build slot (Cobalt dealer in Nashville sold my my Chap where they are also a dealer).

Anyway, after 4 months of waiting on the boat to arrive, we finally put it in the water last week and man...these things drive amazingly. I've been blown away in comparing the ride to the Chap and well, it just doesn't compare. Completely different animals and the Cobalt has JUST a bit more power over my 220HP merc v6 with the Alpha One drive.

Anyway, thank you all for all of the help, guidance, and most importantly the entertainment. Looking forward to many years with you all!

Welcome again....I knew anyone with Les Paul in their name would be wanting the quality of a Cobalt.
I've got a drawing of Jimmy Paige playing a Les Paul with a violin bow. Pretty cool.
