Mothballs and Dryer Sheets

Ok, so I have to ask. It's driving me crazy trying to figure it out.

I saw on another thread earlier about storage. One of the member told the other not to forget the mothballs, the other said he uses dryer sheets instead.

What gives? Am I missing something or was it a joke?

Winters are so short here, I never considered putting the boat in mothballs.

Enlighten please.

I hate the smell of mouth balls.lol
I have used dryer sheets for over ten years and not a single mouse issue. I them in every storage area, engine area ski locker, floor, trailer rails and on the ground around the boat. Plus after hibernation I leave some in through the summer and all the towels and stuff smell good. That's just me. And our W is 6 months too long.

I second the dryer sheets. Put them in every compartment.

If you want your boat to smell like your grandmother's closet, use mothballs.

I use dehumidifier tablet canisters that we buy at Walmart and a few citrus air fresheners placed throughout the boat. That way any leftover moisture is taken out of the air so mold and mildew won't start and she smells great in the spring.

We also put pieces of sponges into all the tiny openings on the hull to keep the critters and bugs from starting nests.
