R5 Head Storage Ideas
R5 Head Storage Ideas
I'm loving my new R5. One of my only complaints is the storage. My shorter 22' boat had more storage. I would appreciate pics / ideas on how to organize the head compartment. Thanks!

Re: R5 Head Storage Ideas
When I had my R5 as well as my new R6 Surf we use the head compartment to store all of our life jackets and bumpers. I have found it to be very quick and easy storage for my wife or family to be able to quickly disconnect the bumpers and throw them in that area. I have all of our life jackets stacked up on the shelve on the left hand side organized from size small to extra large. At the end of every lake day I have to reorganize the whole compartment because it’s a complete mess but at least it’s neat when we head out. FYI our head will never be used since we have a lake house. In my R5 I just left the toilet attached with the wrapper still on top.

A lesson I learned the hard way. When opening the head compartment please watch the bottom of the door while opening to make sure you don’t open it over the top of your foot! I’ve done this multiple times (I know I’m a slow learner).

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have done this. Ouch. I removed the portalet altogether; that created more room in the head for bottled water and other heavy, bulky items. I need to remove the base as well, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. The head is the place where everybody throws towels, shoes, purses, etc, etc. Whenever somebody loses something, I tell them at at the bottom. I wish they would have installed hooks along starboard side of the head to hang things to keep them accessible. I’ve been hesitant to install a few in fear screwing through the exterior fiberglass.tfarmer wrote: Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:15 am A lesson I learned the hard way. I have tried command strips in my old boat but the heat, when covered, made most fail.
