R6 Hull

Post by dmartin1 »

Has anyone had problems with the hull on new R6? Mine has had 1 1/2 tanks of gas run thru it & has quite a few problems.
Pics to follow if I don't get any satisfaction.

Yecks. Sounds like they used some frozen resin.

You should share pictures so others buying new boats know what to be on the look out for

Cobalt has a long and amazing reputation. If you unfortunately had a bad run on your hull, hopefully they make things right for you

I looked yesterday to my R6. Found also some cracks!! Not at the outside of the hull. My cracks are near the table mount inside the boat. Contacting my dealer today. Wondering how they will handle this. Can you PM me a picture of yours to compare?

Would be helpful to hear build dates or delivery dates. Isolate when the problem started and potentially ended. Picking a boat up today. Im no fiberglass expert so would love to see a pic or two so I can look the boat over. Guess we should see no cracking at all. What a shame. When did you guys get your boats?

Dmartin,
Go ahead and post the pic's. We talk regularly about cobalt's faults. They are a great company but not perfect. I have never known them not to make something right. Posting pictures may help others know what to look for on future boats.

still waiting for an answer of the dealer. my boat was built nov 2020, got it April 2021. Delivery takes ab bit longer to Europe. the cracks a clearly visible, near the table mount. A part of the whole wall of this side is weak, you can easily push it with your fingers! It makes cracking sound also. Maybe delamination already in progress there or less material used? Don't know the reason actually. Can you check your boats at this area if there are weak spots? The location is near the table mount - upper right corner. It is a larger spot. I can post pictures, but first I will wait how cobalt reacts about this structural issue. Also made a video... Had several issues till now with my boat. This one makes me a little nervous.

That whole area on my boat is thick and solid. Pressed around the surface and could not find movement anywhere. No noise either.

So first thought would be the Texas freeze. Thats where the resin to make the boats comes from. However your build date does not line up with that February freeze date. Would have been completed at that point by my loose figures. Would think 4-6 weeks for transport and customs. Also think 6-7 weeks on the boat build. But just guessing.

Keep us posted.
