Makefast bimini slide parts

Post by Mikey »

One of the Makefast bimini slides on my 2017 R5 won’t lock in the up position. Any one else have this issue and what did you do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the Easy-Fold bimini? Take some pictures so we know what you are looking at. Disconnect the back supporting arm at the sliding end. Once free from the bimini the slide should ratchet along the rail with the lever up and locks in location with the level down. The rail is fairly easy to take apart. The track and end caps are screwed into the gunnel and not bolted thru.

It has happened to my R5 on both sides. I replaced the slide trolley on both sides and had to replace the slide track on one side. So far so good after that but the system has only been on my boat for one year. Like stiflkd said it is easy to take apart. I had it added during winter 2 years ago so I can get my boat into my shed easier, my door is only 10’ tall and with the bimini up it won’t clear the door. So far I like the system but it isn’t very durable. I had a lot of trouble with it last year.

Here’s a picture of the offending slide trolly. It tries to lock in the up position, but easily slides back to the down position. Just curious Snowman, where did you get the replacement parts for yours?

My Cobalt dealer (Erickson Marine) installed the slide system and that is who I got the parts through. Since it broke the first year after they installed it they replaced the parts under warranty even though it wasn’t original equipment on the boat.

My dealer just called to say Cobalt is going to repair the Easy Fold slides under warranty. It’s going in Friday and we’ll have it back in time for our annual trek to Table Rock Lake!
