Yeah it did take a little bit to adjust to, especially with the regen braking. One pedal driving is cool though once I got the hang of it. We are heading back out to San Diego in June, planning to road trip the car and see how viable it is to travel on the supercharger network vs normal car.

Antsy for an update on the car, still no delivery date assigned yet, but only ordered a week ago. Crossing my.fingers for this week sometime, there's a few other people on the Tesla forums that ordered similar configurations earlier in March and got VINs assigned last week. If that pattern continues I should have a VIN in the second half of this week.

I have a co-worker that took his Model S from St. Louis to Dallas. He said it took him an extra 4hrs to get there. Because every time he stopped to charge it per the GPS in the car. there was someone already hooked up to the charger. Now this was going from Missouri to Texas. I am sure the supercharger network is a little bit more built up in your region than here. Gas is always a lot cheaper here in the midwest so the electric car rage hasn't taken off as fast.

T550, you are going to LOCE driving that Model 3! Our family of five is constantly jockeying to drive our Model S.

I'm a big fan of the regen braking because there is practically no brake wear OR brake dust to clean up! Remember, you can always select the other options (low regen or no regen) in the settings if you want to drive it like your other cars. After our kids and wifey got used to regen mode, they actually prefer it. My wife does like the creep mode selected "on" though. That sounds funny

Like you, I've owned quite a few cars of all makes & models in my lifetime. This one by far is my favorite.....(and the honeymoon phase is over after driving it for more than a year). Why?...it is easy and fun. I can honestly say owning an every day driver- five to seven passenger sedan with free supercharging for life that accelerates from 0 to 60 in 2.28 seconds (currently the quickest production car in the world) and a sub 10 second quarter mile makes this car thrilling. Plus great looks, air ride, saloon handling, snow traction, 5 star crash rating, amazing storage, great technology, killer app, low maintenance, etc.. propels this car light-years ahead of anything else I have ever owned. Is it perfect?-no...are there issues to work out?-yes...would I trade it for any other production car out there...not a chance.

Now, with that being said, I would NOT own a Tesla (or any current EV) if long distance cross country travel were my only driving requirements. Yes the Tesla supercharger network is the best and biggest in the world. But it is still a nuisance to plan trips and navigate to those superchargers. This will smartly change though as Tesla is adding more and more superchargers in addition to the V3.0 superchargers that were just announced.

I drove mine from Minneapolis to Pittsburgh over two days. Great road trip but not something I would want to do on a daily basis....and I have a 321 mile range.

As Tesla and other manufacturers get the charge time down and the range up, the popularity of these EV's is only going to sky rocket. Enjoy the tip of the spear for now. Soon we will look back at these first Teslas as relics as wireless induction charging, swappable battery packs (like the NIO), and longer range ( roadster) with faster charging (Porsche) come into play. Gotta love technology brutha. Changes faster than you can keep up with it.

I can’t imagine Volvo doesn’t have an electric marine engine under development - it will be fun to see what the next 10 years bring.

What ever tgrace98. I drive a 50hp over priced prius every day with 65ft of torque and I love it. Model 3 will be next for me. They had to pull me out of it at Barrett Jackson. I almost ordered one there.

Man those cars are fast, but...they just have no soul. I need to hear the engine, smell the race fuel, to really get that track high. Also, you have a professional driver at an HPDE, you could put him in a Civic and he'd be overtaking the same cars as the video.

You are 100% correct...addicting as a driver, breathtaking as a passenger. I let my buddy drive it last night with me in the passenger seat. It feels different when you aren't completely prepared for it like you would be as a driver. He's a car guy, driven lots of big V8s and currently has an Audi RS4. His response..."holy crap"

I swear I searched for asLan7 over there before and nothing came up. Just searched again and there you are! I use my alter ego destructure00 over there.

I dunno man...there's something about that feeling of instant, silent, effortless power that's hard to convey in words. It's definitely different, but I'm not sure I'd use "no soul" to describe it
