Thanks for the reply. Our first boat was a 2021 Chaparral 23ssi. We ended up using it way more than expected, over 100 hours so far. We're looking to upgrade in size, luxury, and features and the R8 covers all those bases. The R6 would be the logical next step, but from experience on our lake 27'-28' seem to handle the chop much better. I could see us upgrading to a bigger boat within a few years if we went to a 25-26. It's a large purchase for us and I don't like to overpay.

Chaparral makes a nice boat. 23ssi is a solid performer. You'll like the upgrade though. As far as size, you always want larger on the water yet smaller behind your tow vehicle. 26-28 foot is about the legal towing limit as after that you begin to exceed the 8'11" beam restriction. What are you using to tow this beast?

We're lucky to have a slip, so no need to trailer ever. I'm not sure I'd enjoy the stress of trailering and launching. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Dealer told me the 8% surcharge was taken off by Cobalt, didn't say why, they just did?? I'm at roughly 20% off MSRP (after freight and prep) for a 2023 R8. Is that a good deal for us given market dynamics?

Maybe they worked the surcharge into the MSRP for 2023?

They did. The 2023 pricing on the website doesn’t have the material surcharge but the MSRP is more than 2022 that had the material surcharge. As someone else said, once prices are up they won’t come down.
