Dealer Incentives
Dealer Incentives
Looking at pulling the trigger on a 2023 R8 Surf and dealer giving me his bottom $ but it's still a little off from where I need to be. He said he would entertain throwing in "other" things (i.e., service for a period of time, merch credit, etc.). Wanted to get thoughts on what "other" things I may want to think about? Appreciate the feedback!!
Re: Dealer Incentives
I think the only way the price is going to come down is if the economy crashes, so you could wait? Or will you have an early enough build slot to use it this year?

Re: Dealer Incentives
I would agree, I think we are definitely at the high end of the market. If you can be patient it would save you money. On the other hand you only get so many summers with your kids. You can call his bluff and walk away see if it really is his bottom line. The way things are I’d be really surprised if you get to use it this year, even if it’s delivered it may be missing a prop, etc.

I ordered my 2022 R6 last September and got 19% off MSRP. I dunno what % off MSRP you've negotiated, but I agree with dsthomas. Walk away and see what his bottom line really is.

Re: Dealer Incentives
When looking at cobalt website they are currently quoting with a "Manufacturer's Material Surcharge" are the discounts you describing coming before or after this Surcharge?

24% off is good imo. Dealer I’m talking with is 21% off right now.
I wonder about material surcharge and if that will ever go away or if they will just adjust the price to reflect that in the future without calling it out. ??

Re: Dealer Incentives
Good question, I had assumed they will build it into the 2023 pricing, but have no idea.

Different industry but we are leaving surcharges right now as we are hoping these are only short term cost to us....Tell3131 wrote: Mon Aug 08, 2022 7:15 am

When we increase our list prices we never decrease going forward... we may hold list prices for a year or two though..
Most of our surcharge cost are coming from having to air freight supplies including engines and having to buy isolated parts when vendors have no inventory and/or promise date at retail prices just to keep production going for customer orders and to keep our employees busy. Some of the surcharge cost are also from increased raw material cost (ie steel in our case) that we also hope will only be short term increases.
With the lack of build spots available and increased cost across the board Im surprised any dealer can discount. But with the interest rising I can see them wanting to stay liquid.

Re: Dealer Incentives
Is over 20% off MSRP common? I'm at 10%, getting to 20% seems like it would be tough to accomplish. My first boat from this dealer, and first Cobalt.

Hey Shaner. So glad you found us.
It all depends on the dealer. With Cobalt's model, you have to purchase from the dealer closest to you.
From what boat are you upgrading?
And welcome aboard mate.
