Garttx and vtengr, Iβm glad to hear that your dealers honored your deal. I talked with my dealer last Friday, he did the same, confirmed theres a surcharge and informed me that the dealership didnβt feel right going back on their word and that they would honor the deal we made last September. Nice to know there are honorable and honest people left in the world.

I will flat out cancel my order if they pass the surcharge onto me. A deal is a deal.

Not only that, but in my area slips are hard to come by, and slips with a lift are even harder. So when I found an open slip with a lift I jumped on it. Right now I'm leasing a lift that sits empty until my boat comes home. If the rep knows about this surcharge and waited until closing to tell me (presumably 5 months from now), I will be furious because in my eyes the "deal" is void at that time - I'll get my deposit back - but I won't get the thousands of dollars I spent leasing the slip back.

Thanks, dustinm!
I spoke with our local Cobalt dealer that we have our order with that the boat is supposed to be coming in by end of year. They did confirm that there is a surcharge but did not confirm the amount. However with that said they would honor our pricing and not increase the price of the boat and it would be absorbed. Good to know that not only have they been great during the sale that they are backing it up after the sale.
Garttx - If you don't mind me asking, what dealer did you order you boat from? I have one on order from the Cobalt Dealer in Conroe. Curious to know if it is the same dealer as I ordered mine from?

I sent you a private message with the name. They are the only regional cobalt dealer in this area. Great people I just did not want to put them on the board in case it violated some policy or something !

I feel for these dealers. I mean Malibu is putting them in between a rock and a hard place, risk losing future business or eat thousands! I wonder if other boat companies are doing the same, I canβt imagine Malibu is the only one, I know someone on here said some car companies are doing the same.

I've been dealing with a guy who own's a chain of restaurants. He said he is eating most of the cost of increased labor and rising food costs, because he doesn't believe he can raise menu prices enough and keep his business.

Wow, beautiful! Can't wait to read the review and see more pics. On a side not Cobalt seems to be all over the place with production dates. I was originally told December, then told they could move it to October, then I can a call saying it would be April, then out of the blue last night I got a call saying it was going into production today and that I can't make any changes unless I want to cancel the order and start over with the 8% surcharge. Per my dealer this was all according to Cobalt.
