Hello from Miami Florida

Post by The La Salts »

Glad to find this forum. I love my Cobalt and in Miami there are not many. Our boat is pretty unique here and gets lots of looks. We purchased her in May. It’s a 2014 276 with VP380 DP fresh water cooled which is like magic to my fellow boat owners that have outboards. We bought her with 107 hours. These are from when we first boat the boat and a trip to Elliott key Sand Bar.

I think you may be the first. Let’s see that interior. I know it’s 85 down there so you can just pop outside and snap away

So I am a new boater but I have a grease monkey back ground so I am really comfortable with this engine and working on this boat myself. All that being said I purchased the boat and didn’t check the basic 100 hour service items.

So after a couple runs, one morning I trailered out with the family and the dog for the first time, for the dog that is. I tied up the boat and left my wife, kids and guest getting ready while I parked. I had left the boat on the warm up.

When I get back I am faced with odd faces and sounds. My dog is all wet and barking. My wife is all wet and BARKING and the boat is beaping like crazy. I didn’t pay much mind to the beaping as I was trying to figure out what happened. I am sure you can guess that the dog jumped in the water and my wife went right after her. :x

After moving the boat away from the dock to retrieve my wife’s sun hat floating 30 feet away it then dawned on me that the engine was overheating. Sure enough the day was over.

After further troubleshooting I found that my impeller was bad. I bought a replacement and swapped it out.
