California Fires

In Sept. 2016, we went on an extended trip to California to my nephew’s wedding and camped over Labor Day weekend in Redding, CA. This picture was taken while we were exploring on an old jeep road above Whiskeytown Lake. The marina in the background and much of the countryside has been devastated by these recent wildfires. We vividly remember each time we left the campground, fire fighters & trucks were lined up in a parking area, just waiting for a fire to erupt. Heartbreaking

Lack of forest management will do that.

I grew up in Sonoma County which burned last year. All told, two of my sisters, a brother, and a crapload friends were evacuated between Sonoma County, Lake County and Ventura county fires. It just continues this year with Lake County and Shasta County with friends impacted in both places.

It is sad to see such beautiful areas destroyed, but, the forest will grow back over time. It would be nice if the powers that be could figure out a better compromise in forest management so big fires are reduced.

God Bless the firefighters for all the work they do to try and protect the people, property, and wildlife.

Sad as we see this every year it seems. And for you guys from the area you know where the West winds push this.

We’ve had a smoke layer for a week that turns the sky grey with no sun. Ash all over and the smell of a camp fire is non stop.

Prayers to the people who are displaced and there losses. I can’t complain it’s just ash falling
