For those who have all chain then get a stop installed I bump the windlass out a inch to give slack after I tie it off.

Just like drag on a fishing reel it will slip, it’s supposed to actually or you can wipe out the motor if you try to pull your boat with it

One ugly cruiser coming by putting 3 footers can bounce your bow and slip it as a result.

You’ll get in the habit , especially when it’s retrieve time and you need to untie. Then you idle up slightly to your anchor spot .

You can just add a short 3/8 braded rope with a clasp that would take the load .

They recommend backing up oposite the spot but you may be against a area of shallow water that could make that hard.

If your running all chain you risk hurting your bow hull area. So keep an eye.

Once you determined your stuck as the windlass strains directly over the spot. Re- attached your teather ( if all chain) or tie back off to your cleat if your on the rope portion.

Anchors are cheap compared to windlass and fiberglass damage.
You’ll know when to cut her free.
