New Member in Missouri 2005 282

Post by Patriot 8713 »

Just purchased a 2005 282 in great shape with less than 200 hours, Royal Blue stripe/bimini, Mercruiser 496HO, Bravo III outdrive, Stainless Steel Props, Custom Cover, SS Tower, SS Cleats and Trim package, Extended Swim Platform, upgraded stereo with 2 JBL amps and sub, and Windlass Anchor. I love the 496 HO...what an engine! The only option I wish the boat already had is captains call so that we could hear the sweet sound of the big block at idle/wot. This will be the first thing we add. The wife an I love the sound of a loud V8 engine with a good choppy cam at idle. We have a condo at LOTO (21MM) and will appreciate the smooth ride the 282 delivers. I am looking forward to reading through the posts to get all the information I can about this boat.

Welcome from California! That’s a great looking classic stripe 282. Perfect for rough water and you will enjoy not cringing going over qtr wakes and slop. We’ve had our 282 for 2 years and I love it every time out.

The Corsa exhaust kits are still available so we look forward to seeing you do the upgrade. We also like our windlass and are spoiled by it as we anchor a lot!
You’ll find a lot of Cobalt Niebors here and I’m sure you will find this site as a great resource.

Get us a captains report and tell us how you and your family enjoy her!

Hey patriot 8713. So glad you found us!

Great 282 pics. You’ll love the extended swim platform. 👍
The 496HO is an amazing engine...and sounds great too. :D

I haven’t forgotten about you. I’ll look for the Corsa specifics that we used on our CC install.

Welcome aboard mate!

Welcome from St. Louis/Table Rock lake. Great looking 282! we seem to have a few 282's from LOTO on here now. Sounds like the popular boat for there.

Thanks AsLan7,

I called a couple of companies and got the following part numbers. The numbers match up, so i will assume they are good.

81040-CBI1-H diverters
11071 tips w/20° angfle with trim flange
17000 hoses and clamps

TMG Performance quote $2,500
CP Performance $2,312

What is the usual labor cost for install?

I watched several install videos and am pretty mechanical/handy, but cutting into the transom scares the h3ll out of me!

Thanks tgrace98,

I see a lot of Cobalt 282's at LOTO. It handles the rough water so good that it only made sense for us to get one!

We have spent years going to TR around Kimberling City and love it there also. We have way more family and friends at LOTO and it is 1.5 hours closer, so we bought there. There are still some family that goes to TR, so we will be there every once in a while. They couldn't be more different lakes though. TR is calm and relaxing and where we went when our daughter was young. Now my little girl is all grown up and LOTO is like a rock concert on steroids. I love both!

Thanks cmattj,

We test drove the boat for over an hour and loved everything about it. It is a great looking and running boat. The interior looks brand new, rides like a cadillac, and handles like a Corvette. I could not get over how smooth it shifted in and out of gear without a sound. We always had boats that kind of clunked into gear and thought that was normal...not with Cobalt! I must have put it into and out of gear 20 times just to see if it was real. lol

For sure they are 2 very different lakes. I'm in the Wentzville area so LOTO is about 2hrs to the dam for me 2.5 to Osage beach and Northern Camdenton. And I am 3.5-4hrs to Table Rock. I pretty much grew up going to LOTO all the time and loved it when I was younger. Now that my partying days are in the past I prefer TR. Nothing wrong with LOTO at all I still try to make it there once a year.

The 282 is a perfect boat for LOTO! We have put 70 + hours on ours since June. We'll be there tonight and on the water all weekend. Enjoy that big beautiful Cobalt!

welcome from Antioch, IL.

We're making the trip down to LOTO next Aug. for the Shootout, it's been on my bucket list for years and we have friends that have 3 houses on a bay off MM 34.5. We'll be renting one of those houses with a dock and lift for my boat, so stoked!

Welcome to the site from a fellow LOTO member. We keep our boat at Kelly's Port, so you must be close. Hope to see you down there sometime.
