New Member from Missouri/Lake of the Ozarks (2003 262)

Post by jsdittmer »

Hello fellow Cobalter's. I wanted to officially introduce myself.

I am a new Cobalt owner from Kansas City, MO, and boat at the Lake of the Ozarks. I'm not a complete newbie to boating, but close enough and will learn a lot. After proper research, Cobalt quality was the only choice. I know the fan base is close nit, so I may need your assistance from time to time, so looking forward to meeting everyone.

I went with a 2003 262 with the sweet arch and the extended swim platform in sport ebony. It has the Volvo 8.1 Gi 375 HP w/ Corsa Captain Call exhaust and dual props. No trim tabs that I was originally looking for, but I'm told this boat doesn't need them as it planes so easily (easy add too if I want). It's also got a bump'in Wet Sounds sound system too, so I'm pumped for that.

Here's some pics of her. Now it's tough waiting for summer!

Nice to be a part of the prestiges Cobalt community!

Welcome again From the other side of the state!

While I would agree you don’t need trim tabs on a 262 they are nice to have. Especially in rough water because you can really get the bow down to cut through the rough wake. Plus they are nice to have for leveling the boat in uneven loads or a bad cross wind.

I would for sure be looking to add them. I don’t use mine all the time but enough to where I would miss them if they were gone.

Hey, great pics jsdittmer! Thanks for posting. The one close to shore looks like it could be on the cover of the brochure back in 2003.

Keep the pics coming. We love them here! :D

Great looking boat! I do agree with everyone regarding the trim tabs, I don't use them all the time but I sure would miss them if I didn't have them. I am sure you will enjoy the 260 series, they are a great boat and a great hull.

Welcome from a fellow LOTO boater. I'll keep an eye out for you next year. Did you buy the boat from Arkansas? I've seen one just like yours at the marina on Beaver Lake by Rogers. Go to the KC boat shows to make it through winter. Enjoy your boat.

Thanks everyone for the welcome reception. What a great forum! I can't wait to launch this thing this summer. Why does summer take so long to get here? I will certainly investigate the tabs.

@Shawneetom, I did buy it in Arkansas. A little north of Little Rock.

@BBP, it was my pleasure to drive and meet you all. Had a blast!

Hey Jeff, really enjoyed meeting you as well. Wish we could have had even more time to talk....it just went by so fast! BTW, I'm pulling for your Chiefs as that was such a tough loss Thursday night. Great team you got there.

Keep that 262 warm and I'm already lookin' forward to pics of her in the summer of 2019. 8-)

I second you on the band Matt. That would be epic!
