Probably a stupid question from a mechanical idiot

Post by Table Rockin »

So we have the 4 person mable inflatable and i can at times get aggressive on whipping them around....to the point of getting semi airborne (which freaks me out and i slow down). You know how you roll the steering wheel all over the place to generate torque to whip them around. My question is does cause any undue strain on my drive? The rolling back and forth?

None whatsoever. Those outdrives are built for all kinds of torque and steering stress.

Bravo three outdrives do tend to run on the hotter side but a simple drive shower will solve that issue.

Pull away. 8-)

I have the same big mable tube, I just had to invest in the biggest tow rope for it is all. Like the previous relpy, you will not hurt the boats drive or engine at all. Cobalt does have a weight limit on the pole down low, and has a much lesser weight tow limit on the tower, so be careful if towing from the tower. Only wake board from the tower, no tubes. Big mables a great tube, had it for several years now, kids love it...have fun out there..👍

I've found it is more a timing issue to whip the tube than how hard you turn the boat. Try starting you reverse turn a couple of seconds before the tube gets to the apex on the outside. Do this a few times maintaining your speed and you will see that tube start to hum as it builds up momentum. I use my ski mirror and watch it close. Never fails to get them screaming.
