Anchor

Post by Richty3 »

I’m brand new to boating. My 2019 23 SC came with an anchor that’s too big for the anchor storage compartment. The “sell” they gave me was that the anchor they gave me would serve me better than the one that fits there. Just curious on whether I should request the one designed for the boat or not. The bigger one I keep in the front starboard storage area. For storage purposes, I would much rather have the one that fits in the compartment the boat was designed for. Thought???

Thx,
Rich

You should definitely be able to find one that fits in the anchor storage locker that works for the boat.
Two of the best anchors are the digger and the box anchor. The box you will probably find is an issue fitting in the storage locker.
Here is a link to the digger anchor. This is the one I use and it works great.

You can purchase from amazon, overtons etc.

There are some very long threads here on the different anchors.
Just noticed you are from FL, are you taking this on the ocean? If so depending on the waves it might change up your needs on an anchor.

I use the box anchor and love it. I have a 2007 200 and it fits in my locker folded in half.

I had the same issue with the anchor that came with our boat when I purchased it. As mentioned before, lots of threads on anchors here.

I have the Fortress FX7 for my R7 and it works great. Holds in strong winds and current. All aluminum, weighs 4 lbs and stores fine in the anchor compartment. Your compartment is probably a little smaller but the dimensions are listed on the link.

I have a 2020 23SC and the anchor I use is a Danforth #8 ($29) with 8 feet of chain. I had to trim/cut about 3 inches off of each side of the "pivot arms" for it to fit in the locker easily.
