Did some Pirelli tire training today

Post by Big Block Power »

So I had to do some tire testing today. It's a hard job but I volunteered.
I'll post a vid when I can down load it. I drove the green Huracan and the red Ferrari F430GT

Thanks A7 but I don't think I will do that. It's a bit too warm to wear that.
Ok I got them uploaded.

Hey that's some nice driving BBP. You're a natural! You beat your lap time each time around. Great instruction too.

Is it me or did the Ferrari seem to shift a little harder vs the Lambo (which seemed smoother)? Maybe just the video.

Hope to see ya sponsored next time. :D

That must have been a blast. I have to agree with A7---the Lambo seemed more together overall and a little quicker based on speeds at different points on the track. At first I was like...."he's hauling it!!!" then I realized the speedo was in kph! Still awesome.

Now, for the big question.....Did you realize that neither have your coveted big block (and did you miss it?) LOL

The lambo was much easier to drive. The Ferrari was a actual race car. It had more power and definitely not as smooth. Totally diff car. If I could get 10 more Laps on the Ferrari it's would have been a diff story. I was shifting a bit early with it other than the lap 4 you can hear it hit the fuel cut off. But I was so hot in it from adrenaline 5 Laps was enough. That car was just so hot inside.

Looks like you had a blast! I instructed at one of those supercar experiences here in Milwaukee since I was certified through Midwestern Council. Driving is fun, riding can be a bit stressful as many of the participants weren't nearly as proficient as you their first time.

Everyone is so focused on the cars and the times, I don't think anyone has asked---what's the feedback on the Pirelli's? I've had them on cars and I think they are a good tire. I still prefer Michelin overall.

In general, good tires, though I've had better luck on my setup with Dunlop. Honestly, nobody at those events push the cars hard enough to take even an performance all season to the limit.

Well this was a very interesting event. I was sitting next to 2 of the warranty and area reps. This company has only 2 guys that handle all claims. So Goodyear has a whole building full of people, Michelin bfg and uniroyal have a building full of people. The other brands have so many claims they need that many. Pirelli just plain and simple don't have a warranty issue. If there is a problem they will fix it plain and simple.
Now I've been a huge Michelin guy. Ltx on everything I owned forever. I made the switch to scorpion Verde all season plus and it's night and day how much better they are. My son also in the same business as me put the Scorpion all terrain plus on his Ram was amazed how good they were in the snow and slop this year. 1 of our customers came back after putting a set of Verde all seasons on his Ram and was amazed also.
So as the reps say try them if you don't like them they will buy them back or put you in sometime else. But I will say you will love them.
So yes I have been converted.

That Lambo instructor sure was chatty.....reminds me of what YT would be like if he switched to race car instruction.
