RGB LED accent lights.

Post by tarachanowicz »

Does anyone know what brand cobalt is using for the RGB LED accent lighting on the new boats? I was at the boat show and looked they are strip lights in a flexible plastic type tube. But saw no manufacturer labels

So i asked the salesman at the boat show about changing out my blue ones for the RGB. He didn't know so called a cobalt engineer who said it would require a lot of work. Wiring and controls would all need replaced. Not sure what your situation is but just FYI.

I got told the same thing since I bought a stock boat. I didn't want to go through the pain of ordering and building when the boat they had in stock had everything I wanted except for the RGB LED's. So I might have to do these myself down the road.

I also did a lot of research on this topic after I purchased my boat and was not able to find them online. I ended up calling my dealer and he shot me a price of around $2,000 for parts only. After that I decided to wait for someone else to come up with a better option on here.

That's absurd! RGB tech is so inexpensive now it can be done for sub-$500 all in, maybe a bit more if you want a really fancy zone control. I did my last boat for $200 using all IP68 material, but I used a cheap controller. Check out Light O Rama for power supplies, lights, controllers, etc...Just make sure it
s 12v stuff because they sell a lot of 110v stuff for Christmas lights. I'm planning on doing pixel lights on the Cobalt, gonna be like a Pink Floyd light show when I'm done!

I had them added at my dealer before I took delivery. I can't remember exactly how much they were but somewhere between $1,200-1,800. They look just like they came from the factory though.

You can search for pictures of my install on this site, but I found the plastic encased led rope on ebay and think it looks terrific.

I did use a different controller than the unit from the kit - I went with a Bluetooth unit that I can tweak from my phone.

I would like to Add the RGB Accent Lights as my winter project. Does anyone know who sells the original turn dial lights that came on the 2017 R5.
