Fuel tank leak
Fuel tank leak
I have a 1995 252 that's leaking from the fuel tank around the fuel supply line fitting on top of the tank. Does anyone have any ideas on how to replace that fitting? It leaks when the tank is completely full and a little when i'm under way.

Hey RM. I see you posted about this before in another thread. Sorry we missed you.
Usually there is an access plate on the floor that turns counterclockwise to unlock. This will allow you to access the fuel sender or in your case the supply line fitting for repair. You definitely want to have this fixed ASAP. Fuel fumes are nothing to mess around with on a boat.
Another member with a 252 may be able to take a pic of this access plate for you.
Any pics of your 252?

Re: Fuel tank leak
I have access to the fuel tank and supply line. I also have a picture, but can't figure out how to post the picture.

Re: Fuel tank leak
I've never opened mine to see what it looks like, but I do know Cobalt specifically mentions the fuel line going to the tank in their manual for 1995. The world was changing to a lot more ethanol fuels back then, and they were concerned about the line degrading over the years if those fuels were used. Keep us updated.

Click the Full Editor tab, then click the attachment tab that pops up under the area where you would type a reply.

:IMG_3400.JPG: I just need to know how to replace or seal the fitting where the supply line goes into the tank.

I think they're fairly universal but you might verify dimensions.

Also, suggest while your down there see if you can replace the Anti-Siphon-valve (check valve), or have it done at the same time. I BELIEVE that's the little brass fitting you see between the tank outlet and the rubber fuel hose, unless that the vent. I paid to have it replaced on my boat along with some other stuff. If you have a 1995 boat its overdue for replacement. Remove it first before you order new.
