lower unit lube

Post by MARGETHEBARGE2 »

I have a 2014 220, with a vp320 and a dps-b outdrive, am wondering what people are using for lube in the outdrive, have seen vp 75-90 synthetic, will any synthetic 75-90 work? Thanks in advance

Mobil1 syn a bunch of people use.
I used Volvo I think last. I changed it after a year and it smelled and looked burnt.
I have switched to BG brand syn drive lube and it looked like brand new after a year this time. It has a burnt smell to it but it has that smell out of the bottle. So I really like that stuff. It also smoothed out my engagements in rev and drive.
Oh it has to be a certain rating like GL or something. I haven't looked lately. But any will do that is.

Hey MGB2. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Our prior 2002 262 was powered by a VP 380 GI engine and duo prop drive. We used VP synthetic outdrive fluid for 7 years with no issues. It does have a slight burnt smell but all of them do to me.

Any pics?

Again welcome aboard mate!
