New Cobalt R5 Owner
We just took delivery of our new R5 Surf. Looking forward to the summer on the lake. We are new boat owners and would love any advice on cleaning, maintenance, accessories we should have, etc.

Hey BJ. Welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!
Great pics of your newly delivered baby.
Fun memories await you and the fam on the water.
I see the ski mirror and arch options. Water-sport enthusiasts by chance?
I'm guessing yes with the Surf model.
Some Wet Sounds speakers on the tower would be on my short list if that's your thing. Your RF head unit will work well with those on the dedicated Zone 2 outs and separate subwoofer volume buttons.
Pick up some hot sauce for spraying down the fiberglass and windshield when done on the water. Works well if you can get used to the vinegar smell. I'm a fan of 3M products for vinyl protection and fiberglass buffing/waxing.
We've got to ask how she's powered?
Thanks for the intro and pics. Throw in one of the engine..
..and again, welcome aboard mate!

Welcome from Wisconsin. So will it be a fresh water lake you are on. Which one. Will you trailer it. Did you get a trailer. We use pretty much the same stuff A7 uses but at use Adams H20 polish for the hull.

I find the H20 product tends to leave swirl marks on darker hulls. I don't use it anymore. I have almost a gallon of it.

I have a gal too yet. I have the old formula that was better I believe. Who knows. I have a white and a silver car to use it on also. I find if you don't get it all off with a dry microfiber you can get the swirls. Being that the boat stays in the garage I just keep wipping it down nonstop.

Mine is the old Adam’s formula too. Oh well. You win some and lose some.
I’ll stick with hot sauce until a better smelling just as effective product comes along.

BBP and A7, y'all should try this stuff. Smells fantastic and gives the boat a glossy and smooth touch. I'll paste the link below. You will have to dilute it, but its worth the 10 seconds that will take.

Hey thanks for the tip KS17.
I'm not seeing any specs for fiberglass in the CarPro description. Looks like a great product for ceramic coated cars. Honestly it looks very similar to many Waterless car wash systems out there including the popular Optimum No Rinse (ONR) and Adams H20 which I'm not a fan of on dark hulled boats.
Hot Sauce is not a waterless car wash product but a hard water spot remover (basically vinegar)....that does work. Just gotta pinch my nose.

Yeah i understand what you are saying, but are you getting hard water spots everytime you go out on the lake and wipe it down? Maybe we are thinking of different uses. Either way, we all have personal preferences, i just dont like holding my nose!

We are. It's a very hard water induced area.

Re: New Cobalt R5 Owner
My house water will leave spots. I have no idea yet in 3 years if the lake water will leave spots.. I haven't tried that yet. Maybe this year.
