HI! I'm not a Cobalt owner yet, but I will be this summer. Hopefully by the weekend. That will likely be the nature of any posts that I make in the near future. I'm set on the Cobalt quality and hull efficiency. I'll be buying a boat to haul my family of 5 around KY and IN lakes. I have been around the water my entire life. My wife, not so much. She tends to think we need a boat big enough for us, our friends, and their friends.
I'm looking forward to making the forum productive with good input. I'm a hands on, technical guy that works too much.

The 242 set the hook when we started boat shopping in earnest. After reviewing the budget, it just isn't in the cards. Now, we are looking at a 226/496 and a 250/496. The BB Mercruiser has been the sticking point since we started looking. The 226 is probably the more practical, but the wife wants a head compartment and wants to pack 15 people onto a boat. The 226 was an '05 with 123 hrs and the 250 is about 450. We'll see.

Any ideas on why info on the 250 is non existent?

Didn't they only make it for a few years? That, plus it being 10+ years old by now...

That said, good boats, just not super common.

What's your budget? I have a buddy with a 250 with a 8.1 and a 252 with a 8.1. I have a crownline lpx 225 with a 496 for sale.

I'm looking two big block 250's this week. I would really like to know what kind of top end to expect. How is the ride quality? I was told today by a dealer that they were an entry level Cobalt as far as amenities. You just don't see anything on the web about them. That seems to be counter to every other Cobalt I've read on.
If anyone runs across a 242 with a head compartment and a 502 for about $45k, let me know.

Right. I think they will still run low 50. No idea never rode in one. I know someone that has 650+hp in a 250.
I'm sure you could get this 250 for low $30's or 252 for low $50

He had the 252 out today did 49gps going upcurrent. So 52 won't be a issue.
