Sooooo I traveled the 16 hours to pick up the 93 Cobalt 22T . Im very happy with the purchase and the price. Unfortunately with the boat being stored for the last 3 years, I knew it was going to have a whole new "break in" period of things being woken up again.
Got the boat titled and registered Friday and was in the water Friday by noon.
Everything was going great, boys were having a blast and she was running like a fine Swiss watch ( Mercruiser 7.4 with 230 hours )
UNTIL....
The fuel pump went out and we had to get towed back to the marina....

Long story short......My father was very excited to see the old Chevy Big Block as the choice when I brought her home. His 35 years of experience with these as a Machanic helped my purchased decision knowing I had him as backup for mechanical issues I couldn't fix myself.
So the first thing out of his mouth when I told him the fuel pump broke was " son you can convert that to electric in less than 2 hours" .....REALLY pop's?
And so it began......NAPA had everything in stock and I manufactured the bracket, seal plate and gasket myself from spare aluminum in the shop.

Unfortunately .....These electric pumps don't have the backbone to draw the fuel through the filter and feed the card. Just not enough PSI or something with this particular pump....

Back to the drawing board........Started searching for OEM mechanical pumps......The one that broke was a Sierra pump.....Im looking at the Holly pump ....is there ANYTHING I should know ...good or bad ?
Hopefully I can overnight the pump and have her in the water running this weekend for fathers day. Thanks everyone...

Stay with the marine version as they use a dump hose to the carb in the event the diaphragm ruptures. Psi rating between 4.5. - 7.
Over that .. the old needle and seats can seep and run a high float all of sudden.
