New Winch Boatmate 2015 Trailer

Just put on a new two speed DL 3200 lb winch (model 15440). It is two speeds and a beast. I used to have a hard time getting the last inch of space (gap) between bow roller and boat. After putting on last night it pulled the boat up slightly and closed the gap easily. I purchased from Easter marine for 140$ which included an extra handle and $21 shipping. No tax.

Purchased a 15 foot strap from tie down engineering with a breaking strength of 5000#

That is absolutely not the answer the handle comes off between switch between the two gear nubs

So I took my boat out yesterday for the first time with the new winch. It used to load like crap. I couldn’t get it against the bow roller or had to go two deep to load and felt with the boat not be centered.

A couple weeks ago I tried to fool around too much and crushed / broke my middle finger. After that I swore I was sending the trailer out to get fixed so it would work but first I wanted a stronger two speed winch. The winch I got is over kill. It mounted about 1 inch higher and my trailer loaded like a million bucks.

I dipped the trailer in till the front fenders were a smige out of the water. And used the winch to do the last 1.5 feet. I didn’t even need to put it in low gear. It was pulled at a better angle right smack into the middle of the bow roller. I was starting to hate my trailer because of loading issues. This winch + a second winch handle cost $140 delivered from eastern marine to my house. It is making retrieving my boat super simple. Best money spent on the boat!

I wonder if I am the only one, but I have a second winch handle. A back up winch strap and back up stern straps all in my car. I don’t want issues while trailering.

Thanks T. I’m all healed up for the most up now. Nail is a little wonky but I plan to do water sports this weekend
