200 S gone from lineup?

Post by Stagdad »

I was just looking at the Cobalt site and noticed that the 200 S is gone. I wonder if the 220 is next on the hit list? Will the CS line be expanded? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Doesn't surprise me. 200 isn't their market. I like the size of my 220 vs the new ones. That's just me.

I like my 210, but never loved the 200 or 220 (I went in to buy a 220 but bought a 210). I suspect they’ll keep something just over 20’ for people like me who just don’t want a bigger boat.

I imagine they phase out the 220 as well. Last I checked neither the 200 or 220 got the FWD drive like their CS cousins.

They are at the end of an old series, probably due for a refresh. Wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with something a bit different to replace them. Or maybe just even stick with outboards for now.

I think Cobalt sells a lot of R5, R3, etc, and the small boats aren’t the big volume leaders like a Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series, but it would be good to keep something in a smaller size in the lineup.

Yep I like the CS series better but I don't like the sun deck as much. I'm good with what I have for now. It held its own this weekend. She wanted to Stretch her legs..

The smaller boats 20’ and under are usually entry level for new boaters. That’s why you see 17-21’ Bayliners everywhere. Not a lot of entry level boaters looking to spend $90k on a 20’ boat.

An optioned-out 210 with a nice trailer stickered for $80k, and sold for a significant discount from that. I would have bought a Bryant, Regal, or some such thing if Cobalt wasn't available, not a bigger Cobalt. It just depends on whether they want people like me who don't have a lake place or a slip as customers.

Heck for me it was hard enough to spend 35k on a 16 year old 22ft boat 😂😂
Really I could have gotten a new Bayliner for that. Man did I screw up.

I don't think so brutha. The biggest you can get in your 22 footer is a 4.5L small block topping out at a whopping 250hp. Plus I'm not seeing any dreamsicle options. Your new name over there will be Noblockpower.

Ya, I don't see you jumpin' ship to Bayliner just yet....not while Cobalt still has a 22 footer with a 350 horse Merc wrapped in your dreamsicle envy. ;)
Welcome back.
