Is it strange the larger 30 SC doesnt have a side dive door and self bailing cockpit.
Especially with Twin outboards, i feel this is a needed upgrade.
I would also like to see some features from Tiara/searay influence their design choices. Like a rotating dinette on the Tiara sport LS , or the aft starboard wing that drops Down on the searay 400 slx.

Re: Dive door
So, yes, I'm resurrecting the post from the dead.....because I'm a diver. I totally get what you're saying about a dive door, but unfortunately, these boats aren't really designed to go offshore, which is where a lot of diving happens IMHO, hence, the no self-bailing cockpit. Our scuppers drain into the bilge, which isn't good where salt water comes into play. I also wonder if the hull design would lose too much integrity with a side dive door. I haven't been on an SC 30---is the rest of the boat set up conducive to diving?

Re: Dive door
The new R6 and R8 are advertised as self-bailing. I assume that feature is coming to the bigger hulls in the future, too.sailor55330 wrote: Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:46 pm So, yes, I'm resurrecting the post from the dead.....because I'm a diver. Re: Dive door
True. But it still depends on how quickly it can clear the water. On a true blue water boat, the cockpit will clear itself in a matter of seconds for hundreds of gallons
Re: Dive door
Personally i would like to see Cobalt build an outboard that isn’t so similar to the R series. I think they need to look at formula for their crossover sport boats or even chris craft for their Calypso. Chris craft even puts a dive door on their launch GT. Its a nice classy feature when boarding.
