97 293 questions
Just bought a 97 new to me 293 and can’t figure out how to get cabin lights on. I have a packet that has manuals for things I didn’t even know existed on this thing but nowhere can I find anything that tells me what to do for simple things like cabin lights. Probably a silly question that will be followed by more of the same!!!!

Hey LwO....welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Normally there is a switch in the cabin that will activate the cabin lights as long as your battery switch is on.
We have two switches. One for cabin lights and one for valance lights. They are both located on the forward bulk head starboard side. Yours is probably similar.
Post a picture when you get a chance.
Again welcome aboard mate!

Re: 97 293 questions
As AsLan7 mentioned above, first confirm battery switch is on, then go to the panelboard in the cabin & switch on the 12V circuits and the individual breaker for the cabin lights. Then the switch on the wall will control on/off.

Re: 97 293 questions
Nice find! Looks really clean. Twins?
Word of caution.... but on a triple axle trailer, try & level front to back as much as possible to spread the load. Maybe it's just the way it's setting, but looks like the front axle is doing all the work.
Enjoy the new boat. Reach out with any questions. I had a 293 for 7 years.

Re: 97 293 questions
Thanks HS. I agree on the trailer. I need to get it in the water to adjust it back, winter just doesn’t seem to want me to do that yet lol. It has a single 502 which I think will suffice for us as we just cruise and tie up mostly. All water sports are done behind a wave runner so no need for hole shots and such. I’m sure I will have more questions when the weather straightens up so good to know someone with experience.
Re: 97 293 questions
The hitch is where the adjustment will be made. Are you using a drop hitch? and if so how much?

Re: 97 293 questions
As a matter of fact I will be using a Ford lol! Have a new one showing up next week! It will only be used to move from storage to the ramp which is only a couple hundred yards and to the gas station which is about 4 miles round trip. I have a 1 ton for times that I will pull much further than that. I will be using a drop hitch that is a 2 inch drop I think it’s not much. Pulling my previous boat I flipped a six inch upside down for clearance on the trailer. Doubt I will do that with this one as is about 1500 lbs heavier than the previous boat I had. I will also have overloads on the Ford to keep it from bottoming the suspension out.
Not sure why I couldn’t move the boat back about six inches to even the load a bit on the trailer?

Re: 97 293 questions
You just want the bunks at the end of the transom. Where are they now?
Is your trailer and boat you can do anything you want. Just if you pull long distance you don't rant to remove all of the tongue weight.

Re: 97 293 questions
Here’s the next new to me question. I have a Maxwell windlass that will turn both ways maybe a quarter of a turn and stop. Seems to be a stop somewhere that I can’t find? There is slack to the anchor so it is not the chain coming tight. Just can’t find what is stopping it from turning, have the Manuel but it’s no help.

Re: 97 293 questions
Try manually turning it using the handle that's stowed in the anchor locker or there should be a longer one in the storage under the aft seats. Otherwise, you can open the windlass and see if something is lodged in the wheel.Lastwunout wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 9:00 pm Here’s the next new to me question. I had to replace this pressure arm at one point.

Re: 97 293 questions
I have tried the short manual handle, will have to try to find the longer one. I really don’t think it will matter because this is a HARD stop both directions. I was hoping I was just missing a safety catch or something simple. Will probably just take it apart.
