Just Took Delivery!

Post by MentorPilot »

We just took delivery of our first Cobalt, a 2021 R5. (Lake Norfork, N. Central Arkansas). She sports a Navy Blue hull with orange boot stripe and Makassar Dash/Interior Trim. We loaded it up with options including a windlass, docking lights, swim platform lights, U/W lighting, premium sound with a pair of speakers on the arch, plus several more. We added a sonar option to the twin Garmin screens and it works great. It serves as a fish finder and gives detailed images of the bottom, including side scan. I fish for striped bass on the same lake (different boat) and it will be nice to use the Cobalt to find / track schools of fish while out boating with the family. I’ve been following this forum for some time and it has been great in helping us with our purchase and option decisions. It is nice to finally be a Cobalt owner!

Very nice unit. The orange goes very nicely with Cobalt blue.

Congrats on the beautiful boat! I grew up boating Norfolk, now a table rocker but still love that lake.

Do you tow with the mooring cover on or off? I am worried about the cover damaging the gel coat. What is the power plant?

I've towed literally thousands of miles with the mooring cover. No issues. It's designed for that.

The boat was delivered from Heber Springs... about 2 hours away with the cover on. There were no issues that I could see when we took it off. The cover fits very nice and tight. A ratchet strap is built into the cover and it tightens down nicely. The ratchets are tucked away into zippered and reinforced pockets that protect them and the boat. The cover also has convenient zippered openings to get to each cleat. We were impressed and pleased with the cover!

Yep... Futrell Marine. Jake was my salesman. This has been an extremely good year for the industry in general and Futrell in particular. Jake was a busy guy but handled all of our needs.

Jake really knows his stuff. Very aggressive though. I also liked Darrin...very helpful but more laid back.
