Engine Troubleshooting

Just took delivery a few weekends ago of a 2013 A28. Used a few times since then including this past Saturday, but after anchoring for several hours the engine would not crank whatsoever. Battery still had good voltage, wiggled the throttle to make sure it was in neutral, safety switch was set to run, etc. Couldn't think of anything specific that had changed since it last started up, but wondering if I may have tripped a safety mechanism that wouldn't allow it to start. Whenever I attempted to start the engine, it basically sounded like a blower was running for several seconds followed by a loud beep and then nothing. Curious if anyone has come across this before or has any ideas on what could be wrong. Related, if anyone has any recommendations for someone reliable to take a look and work on the boat in the Chicago area, please let me know! Thanks

Sorry to hear about your Cobalt woes. Did you check the 50 amp breaker on top of the engine? What model engine do you have?

Appreciate the response. Checked the circuit breakers near the battery switch but wasn't aware there was one on top of the engine as well so will check that. Can grab some pictures when I stop by the boat later today as well. The engine is a Mercruiser 8.2 HO.

You said it sounds like a blower

That makes me think your starter (bendix) is not engaging the flex plate.

Check the wire connections on the starter.

Could also be the starter solenoid.

First time that happened to us, it was the safety switch lanyard had been accidently pulled.
