Hey SDE48...so glad you found us!

Thanks for posting pics. Hopefully this works out for you. What's the story with the outdrive corrosion? How many hours?
Hard to tell but that looks like a Maryland boat (vs MO). Freshwater or salt?

And welcome aboard mate!

Yea nice looking boat. Looks like the interior was all replaced. Bilge is clean. Yea too bad the salt water went after the drive.

Zincs shot, corrosion looks worse than it looks. Scotchbrite, zinc chromate primer and paint and all will be well. No salt water one owner and on a lake in MD as far west as you can go. Always serviced by a cobalt dealer with receipts. Bravo drive steering tight as well as gimbal. Owner upgraded to a new and bigger Colbalt. Gelcoat chipped in usual places and 5 very small blister on port side on edge where Kevlar mat edge joins chine. Vinyl in good condition for age with a few stitching issues. 590 hours on engine and as a mechanic myself ran great. I’m sure I’ll find issues but I like to fix boat. I retired 7 years ago and have done over Old whalers and a Rosborough RF 246 along with a few airplanes. Now I have to find a trailer to move it home to the St Lawrence….recommended trailer….or one to sell?

Do you mind telling me what you bought it for? Or ballpark? My uncle has one just like it, same motor and drive with similar hours. No trailer either. He has thought about upgrading but not sure what it is worth and then has to find its replacement.

Had the boat out a number of times and all is well. On test run in Maryland 4600rpm and 52 mph on speedo. At home I reindexed props that were off 2 splines and hit 4850 rpm and 56 mph with a light chop , 2 people and full gas. Props are 28” pitch. I bought the boat from a Cobalt dealer that sold the boat new and gave me all the records they had. I am the third owner and on the same lake all its life and never trailered. Of course the boat needs things done but nothing major. Compared to my 1983 260hp 19BR …the performance is a tad better and I like the ride. What I like is the ability to handle more HP with bravo 3 drive and being a gear head …more HP is in the offering. Heads, cam, pistons, bravo 1 etc.
