Trim Tabs w/ Autoglide or w/o Autoglide

Post by Grand Lake Bum »

I am working on the build for my R30 and I am interested in learning what folks think about this choice. My salesman swears that Trim Tabs with Autoglide is a worthwhile feature. I presently have Trim Tabs on my 276 but no Autoglide and rarely need the Trim Tabs. Does Autoglide really save fuel? Do those that have this feature find it worth the extra $$$?

Smaller boat (R5) but love my autoglide trim tabs. I didn't think I would like them to adjust themselves because I thought I could do it better... nope, I leave them on auto 90% of the time.

So Maybe I should start a new thread on here cuz this isn't really about the auto function. I ordered an R8 Surf with trim tabs. Boat was deleivered and everything works great... but the trim tabs have just the rocker switches with no indicating lights. I don't know why they did that. Something about Lenco changed the control box so that it's directly behind the switches and it there isn't enough room to mount it in the dash... but I've seen on some of the non Surf R models that do have the indicator lights. My dealer was telling me they could find a work around but it would cost $1,000. That's not for the auto glide that's just to upgrade to the indicator lights.

I've done research It looks like other brands you can integrate the trim tab indcator into the garmin screens but lenco doesn't have an option for that as far as I've found. Anybody have any suggestions or thoughts??? Sorry if I highjacked this thread 😬

It looks like mine have the lights. I can get a better picture next time I'm there. '22 R4

Yeah... I don't get it... I looked on line to see how much the indicator lights are and it's like $350, I'm going to unscrew mine and see how much room there is back there.
