R7 Surf Cold Start
R7 Surf Cold Start
I just bought an 2018 r7 surf. It’s in great shape and was just serviced. I trailer the boat and every time I first put it in the water, it takes about 20 seconds or so for the engine to crank over and start. Is that normal? Always stresses me out that the boat is not going to start but it always does. Thanks.

I always cycle the key first to get fuel up to the injectors.
Others will come in. I have a good Ole BB

Hey sapekian...so glad you found us my friend.
I don't cycle the key like bbp but I do give it about 2 or 3 seconds to prime the pump before turning to crank the engine.
Any pics of your R7?
And welcome aboard mate!

Re: R7 Surf Cold Start
We had an R7, I'd turn the key on and let the garmins boot up and then crank it, even when it was cold it wouldn't take more than 3-5 seconds to fire up. I feel like 20 seconds is a long time.
