Winch
So my small gear on my winch is toast. Yes I could just replace it. But it's a bitch to crank up the last few inches. So I'm thinking 2 speed winch. Anyone use one that is better than the other. I'm thinking this one.

Re: Winch
I’ve got one. It is nice - I can’t imagine I’d replace it with anything else I’ve ever seen.

Re: Winch
We use the Fulton T3205 two speed.
Seems to work fine as well.

Re: Winch
I read and now see on yours Aslan with a full dim it basically pulls half the load. I normally only pull out 2 feet of strap. Why is there such a loss of pulling power?

Re: Winch
It’s because the radius from the center of the crank handle grows significantly as you wind more belt into the drum, resulting in a lot less “leverage.” You’ll see a similar decline in all winches, whether they rate them that way or not.

Re: Winch
I ordered it last night. Now to try to get mine to release.it's stuck in the crank up mode. Tried last night. She was tight. I'll just unbolt the whole thing. I just replaced the strap with a nice 6000 lbs one. I don't trust those black 1200 lbs ones. I wait everytime for them to snap in my face as I'm cranking the boat up. So the new strap will go on this winch. I'll put the black one I the 222.
