approximate height of R3 on trailer

Post by Bean »

I realize it is impossible to say exactly because of the type of trailer but I have 93" before my garage door opener. I will have the bimini down. Boat is 75" keel to top of windshield. I'm thinking the keel would not be more than 18" off the ground.

I have an R5 and when I had my smaller EZ Loader trailer it wouldn’t fit under my 8’, 96” tall door. I never bothered to check but it wasn’t even close to fitting. My new Loadmaster trailer is even taller. I’m sure someone with an R3 will chime in, it can be kinda dead on here in the winter.

With the standard Bimini in the towing position (not the lay flat Bimini) on my trailer it is just under 10 ft. I know because I was refused storage once because of it. I’ve also measured. It’s pretty close. Not sure if you lay the Bimini down. My bunks are about 22-24” from the ground. It’s a tall boat

Yikes! Is the bimini in the towing position higher than the windshield?
I'll be laying down the bimini.
Thanks Guys

With the standard bimini they are quite a bit higher than the windshield. My bimini was about 10’2” on my old EZ Loader trailer. Now it’s closer to 10’6” on my Loadmaster. I had the EZ Fold bimini installed since then so it lays flat now and is about the same height as the windshield. The pictures are with the EZ fold bimini. The standard bimini is quite a bit above the windshield because it needs to be tall enough to allow you to walk under it while in the boat either folded up or deployed. Again this is an R5 so it might be a little taller than an R3.

Snowman's numbers are spot on. If you don't have 10ft minimum, your out of luck and based on personal experience, 10ft probably isn't enough. As for the binimi in the normal position, it's probably a good 2ft higher than the windshield.
