Replacement seat and timing...

Post by lespaulrob »

Anyone had issues getting a replacement seat? Basically, my port bow seat back (near where the armrest is) on my R6 Surf needs replacing. Dealer put the order in back in October and I heard from them today that it's going to be an additional 3 weeks minimum until we get it in. Is this typical when ordering replacement parts from Cobalt?

I'm trying to really determine if it's a supply chain problem (it's been 7 months) or the dealer dropped the ball in ordering, or something else is going on. It only took like 3 months to build the whole boat and I figured a seat would be quick and easy. ha!

you can always call cobalt customer service before the request goes to the dealer to get a better estimate.

Oh dang! I didn't think about that! I'll give them a ring tomorrow then. Thanks so much!

I don't have any information here... just speculation, but I'm wondering if the ordering the boat was quicker thing is because they probably have those parts pre-made to a certain extent, and can install based on customers color choices, options, etc. But to make an additional 1 seat, maybe gets put to the back of the line due to the amount of orders for boats (especially when people are starting to think about boating season and boat shows, etc). Just spit balling. Or it could be exactly like you said, and someone at the dealership dropped the ball.
