2005 272 complete stereo overhaul

Went with a Sony DSX M80 head unit
JL Audio XDM 600/6 for mains
JL Audio XDM 600/6 for subs
JL Audio M6-650X for cockpit & bow (6 total)
JL Audio M6-10IB subs (3 total)

That caught my eye too - and all pointed the same direction. Driver's all about the bass

are your subs all free air, or did you build enclosures somehow? How is the sound?

All free air.
Good bass, but not as deep or efficient as actual enclosures.

Did you have any issues with clearance to the back of the sub on the port side? I was thinking about adding a sub there on my 272, but it looks like the storage compartment might interfere with the back of the sub.

Def clearance issues. Had to cut into the storage compartment.

Ok, that doesn't look too bad. Any trouble once you made the additional cut? Also, do you have any pictures of the speakers you installed up in the bow? I'm thinking about making some of these same upgrades.

I made the initial circle cut with a rotozip, then traced that circle with a sawzall. No issues at all.

Bow speakers (actually, all speakers);
I had to enlarge the existing mounting holes.

The 272 is a nice machine. Hope you can get a sub back there. Did you consider any of the interior walls?
