Thoughts on this R6 Surf Trailer Bow Stop

Post by GmotoQ »

I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying your time on the water!

I wanted to get your opinion on something regarding my trailer. I recently received my custom-built trailer for my R6 Surf, and I’ve noticed that the boat isn’t sitting quite right on the bow stop. If you look at the attached picture, you can see that the boat is resting on the corner of the bow stop at an incorrect angle, causing the rubber corner to rub against the hull during loading- it also rests on the corner when trailering.

I haven’t approached the dealer yet, as I’m not overly concerned, but I believe this issue needs to be addressed. Since this trailer is new, I’m hoping to get some insight from you all on how to best handle this before I take it back to the dealer.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

So glad you found us GQ...

Not a huge deal but it would personally bother me. It could rub unnecessarily into the hull when loading as well causing a streak when hitting the edges of each bow stop.

I'd call the manufacturer...especially if it is a custom trailer.

Keep us posted.

And welcome aboard mate.

Yep, that would bother me as well. I'm guessing it would bother most of us Cobalt owners. It looks like they had the wrong deadrise angle, and built it to the wrong angle. They should be able to fix it, but it will require cutting / welding / new powder coating, unless there is some adjustment where it connects to the trailer base that isn't shown in the picture.

I had a similar issue, the boat sits so different on the bow stop depending on how deep/angle you are when loading, I could never stop that orange material from marking the boat so I bought through a different manufacturer and they bolted right up and way better. Call the parts dept and tell them you want the grey bow stop bumpers.

Thanks for the pointers. I plan on giving them a ring and move to the grey bow stop bumpers.
