293 outdrives question

Post by Lowrider03 »

We noticed when we were swimming over the weekend that the out drives were not at the same trim location. I was told to use the switch on the throttle to trim them up and down but it appears it’s only trimming the starboard side. Is that the intention of the trim switch on the throttle, to move them both up and down similtaneously? I could use the separate switches but I felt it was a no brainer to trim them together. Any advice out there? I’ve seen the bars that connect the our drives together, would that help or definitely not recommended?

Both should move up and down with the switch on the throttle control. If the separate switches work, then I'd say it's a wiring issue for the throttle switch.

I will use one drive or the other to level the boat once on plane using the separate switches. It seems more efficient and decisive than utilizing the smallish trim tabs. Once the boat is level I then use the throttle button to get the bow up and reduce drag on the hull for cruising or bring it back down for turns or heavier waves. If I hold the button on the throttles down too long it will "zero" out both drives and I'll have the start the process over of getting the boat level based on weight distribution.

The bars you mention are only to provide stability while turning. They still allow the drives to raise and lower independently. I'm not driving that radically to need them.
