Re: R6 Reveal Live on July 10th
I'm sorry but this boat is Fugly! The angular design, both inside and out, and the bloated weight has Malibu engineering written all over it. Look at the rear hull design...this is a Malibu with Cobalt branding. It's a disgrace that they let this monstrosity into the Cobalt R lineup!

Re: New R5 purchase - lead time?
Congrats on your R5! Yeah - the engines are torquey for sure. We did decide to order a 2020 R5 pre-price increase with the 380. Keep our boats a long time, and used to 375hp so thatโs the way we went. More config details in signature.
Congrats double-likewise! Looks like you specโd it great ...

Re: New R5 purchase - lead time?
So what did you wind up with?
New R5 owner here, new to us anyway--2016 with the 300 engine! I was a bit nervous about this 300HP too--we had the 7.4GI in our 220 that was 1,000 pounds lighter and was also 300hp but torquey with that big block engine. We are in Lake Tahoe at 6250 ft. and I was ...

Re: 1999 Cobalt 220
Free bump. We just sold this same boat (same color and stripes!) for an R5. One of my favorite hull designs ever, rides so smooth and handles windy chop and small to medium waves amazingly well! Compared to the R5 it was a sports sedan as opposed to an SUV. Absolutely loved that boat and had the ...

What's this cover for?
Hi everyone,
Just curious. Wondering what this little valve cover is for on our R5 (red arrow pointing to it)? It looks like it has a hex-key so you can take it off, just haven't gotten around to exploring what it is yet.
Thanks!

Re: Mooring cover R7
Are there any dealers on here who will order these online for you with the standard 20-30% discount (and/or has them in stock?) My dealer wants MSRP and 6-8 week lead time for the R5 cover...

Re: 2019 R3 Vs 2019 R5 surf models
@Cobaltfan,
Thanks for sharing your story. What I take from your story is that on a lake that is predictable in terms of big wave conditions, its better to be in a bigger boat - which adds a margin of safety. I agree - to a point.
I boat on Lake Winnipeg which is one of North America's largest ...

Re: 2019 R3 Vs 2019 R5 surf models
Hi My name is Eric,
I am brand new to this site. Thank you for all of the posts. They have been very helpful.
My Wife and 4 year old daughter are wondering which boat would be best for Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe gets pretty rough at some time
most days. Is the R3 at 23'10" going to be big enough for ...

Re: Trim Tabs
From pictures of other R5's with them installed, it looks like they use the Standard Lenco 12" square trim tabs, is that right? Anyone have a pic of where the trim tab switch is mounted inside? Do they use the LED switch?

Del Mar Captain's Chair?
Does anyone have the Del Mar Captain's Chair option? Is it that much better than the regular Captain's Chair? My *new to me* 2016 R5 doesn't have it, and I'm wondering if it's something worth pursuing to see if it could still be ordered from Cobalt? I like the look with the stainless sides and ...

Re: Trim Tabs
Are trim tabs a through-hull installation? Should be easy enough for the dealer or a good mechanic to do them, right?
