Re: New Cobalt flag pole kit installed...

My Cobalt original flagpole is the best design of any boat I've owned! So well built and sturdy and its placement on the Stb stern prevents the flag from flying the wrong direction (as it always did on all my other boats with the flag on the center line of the boat at the stern).

Re: Recommended VP two year bellows replacement

Just take a good look at them each season. If they look like this...

IMG_5935.jpeg

Dry and cracked - replace. These are not leaking yet and they look fine on the inside, but with the outside looking that dry its only a matter of time before they crack and leak after raising the drive. (looks ...

Re: Boat show season

Hopefully they get it together before the Cobalt name is irreparable. It can't be that difficult for Malibu's management to do some searching on Cobalt's past and see why they attained the status that was enjoyed for many years.

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!

I think its been posted up before, but Enterprise Truck rental will rent 250/350's both gas an diesel.

I dont know what engine UHaul puts in their rental F150's I bet it was the 3.3L N/A V6 which would account for the 6,000 max tow rating.

Good news is Ford dropped the 3.3 N/A out of the F150 ...

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!

Not a truck person and only need to pull the boat from indoor storage in April to my driveway (about 20 miles), get the boat ready for the season and for the marina to open and move the boat from the driveway to the marina launch ramp (only 3 miles) and the boat is then docked for the season. Come ...

Re: Lee tackles a faded blue Cobalt

Lee is a master at his craft. I've been polishing my own boats for over 30yrs - but was unable to get the desired results on my last boat (SeaRay 340 Amberjack). After getting my 2003 Cobalt 293 in BLUE - I decided to try and learn a new skillset from watching Lee's videos. After all, I've see some ...

Re: My New Steering Wheel, what do you think?

Actually it's dark blue and white - to match the color of the boat and canvas. Photos don't catch the color as well as IRL. i think yours works well with your boat! I thought this was a steal for less than a C-note!!

Me thinks we acquired our wheels from the same Gussi vendor - Nice and has a custom feel!

Re: 293 outdrives question

Both should move up and down with the switch on the throttle control. If the separate switches work, then I'd say it's a wiring issue for the throttle switch.

I will use one drive or the other to level the boat once on plane using the separate switches. It seems more efficient and decisive than ...

Re: Shore Power Issue

Mine is brand new to me as well and the previous owner only had it for 3yrs and didn't know much about anything. I was unfamiliar about much of the boat but had to learn quickly since the batteries were NOT charging at first. Had to do some digging and get up to speed with manuals to avoid being a ...

Re: Shore Power Issue

If you have an inverter it will have shore power feeding from the breaker to the unit. Mine does. The inverter conducts a "pass through" of the 120vt from the shore power to the distribution panel OR when disconnected from shorepower will automatically switch to inverter mode and create 120vt from ...

The main breakers for Shore Power 1 and 2 (if you have two) are under the sink in the compartment beside the fridge.

Re: High hours on a boat?

The number one killer of boat engines is water intrusion (according to marine mechanics). Boating in fresh water vs salt also makes a difference especially if your engine is raw water cooled. Most likely water intrusion is from rusted exhaust manifolds or risers - again not as much of an issue in ...

Re: 2003 with twin 5.7 Volvos - Model 293

Thanks - Got that wheel last winter on Ebay. It was a great deal being an actual new Gussi Italia wheel, made in Italy, very heavy construction but wrapped in real leather including the center cap with the Cobalt logo. With my boat's color being Cobalt Blue and White the wheel was a no brainer - and ...
