@DockRocker
Old thread here, but firstly that is a clean install!
Second, I'm wondering if your JL Audio M6 IB sub caused any rattle in the console, hull, etc.
I've also got a 2008 Cobalt 222, and the only part of my sound system I have to complete is the sub. I'm back and forth between an infinite baffle style setup versus a sealed enclosure in one of the bow storage areas.
My current setup is as follows. The only parts I kept from the previous owner's setup are the Kicker 6.5" speakers. I installed a Garmin Fusion head unit, JL Audio M6 8.8" tower speakers, JL Audio M400/4 for tower speakers, Wet Sounds HTX-6 for Kicker components, and all new marine grade speaker wire.
I have a Sundown Audio E-10 v.3 D4 10" sub (w/ ported box) on my other boat. For testing purposes, I installed this sub in the port-side front storage of the Cobalt with a JL Audio M200/2. It sounds great, but it rattles a lot - both in the console and the side of the hull. I'm just not sure how much of this rattle is from that being a ported box and how much would rattle even with a sealed box or IB setup.
Thanks for any information and direction. And again, great job on your setup!
So maybe in a unique place to help. We had a 222 that I put a full JL stereo in, and we now own an R5 that i put a M6 Sub in.
I would 100% do Infinite baffle instead of a box, mostly b/c the Box just takes up so much storage space.
The factory sub location in the 222 is good, I put a M3 Sub getting about 200w there and didnt really have any rattles. I will say to fit a M6 you will for sure need a spacer ring. The M3 needed a ring and the M6 is even deeper. I think I had a 1/2in starboard ring to make it fit.
We recently added 2 M6 10s off a M600/1 in our R5, it will shake the ice in the cooler, but it hasn't caused any issues shaking parts of the boat.
Not sure this helps, but let me know if you need any other info or pics.
