Yup, painted both the Lexan and the panel. I used Lexan since it is very strong and easy to work with.akorcovelos wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 1:57 pmI'm assuming he painted the lexan to match the panel.Big Block Power wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 12:43 pm So the adhesive is clear and you can't see it anywhere. That's no fun. That takes the fun out of it. Cost should never be a concern.hainhi wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 3:52 am Wow this is a great thread to follow.
Lots of work. Have you totaled how much materials and hours of labor put into it yet?

Re: 1999 Cobalt 232 restoration
I would guess I have spent around $12-15k on it so far (not including the purchase price of the boat), and maybe 180-200 hours. That's just how I am with all things though. Even if it is perfect in someone else's eyes I always find things to improve and fix. I honestly could have bought the boat and done nothing to it other than a yearly service and it would have been fine. But now I have a boat that is in better shape and more mechanically sound than most others I've seen that are just a few years old. And whoever buys it from me when I'm ready for the next one will get a heck of a deal on a boat that has been maintained and upgraded meticulously.hainhi wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 3:52 am Wow this is a great thread to follow.

BTW, I've been looking for a larger Cobalt I can play with and move up to. Something in the 26-28 range
Re: 1999 Cobalt 232 restoration
New Sureflo bilge pump and float came in. I'll be leaving the stock one in place since it still works and using this as a secondary high flow pump.

Re: 1999 Cobalt 232 restoration
Got everything worked back up and mounted. Tested everything as well to make sure it all still works since I moved so many things around. Now I need to refinish the remaining wood panels.

Dual beam transducer mounted along with 3M 5200 as well.

And also got the new Sureflo 2000 GPH bilge pump and its own float switch installed. I ran this one directly to the battery bus bars so that it will even run if the battery switches are turned to the off position.

Re: 1999 Cobalt 232 restoration
Took the boat out today to make sure everything worked as planned. Everything's functioning correctly. And I am very impressed with the Garmin striker 4. Functions far beyond my expectations for such an inexpensive unit. I would highly recommend that everybody upgrade to one from the factory cobalt depth and temperature gauges.

You mean a the rest of the wooden panels? I didn't get to do those yet. I ordered a new gen2 Mercruiser Quicksilver throttle/shifter. And new LED bulbs to replace all the bulbs in the dash, interior, and navigation lights. When those come in I'll do the remaining wood panels at the same timeakorcovelos wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 9:29 pmEh?
